Sacred Music Concert

Cherry Log Christian Church September 17, 2017 at 3 PM

Cherry Log Christian Church will host a free recital of Sacred Music on Sunday, September 17 at 3:00 pm.  The program will explore new arrangements of music appropriate for all seasons of the church calendar, from Mozart’s Alleluia! to the modern Mary, Did You Know?  Familiar hymn tunes are set in the style of Irish  folk tunes, sultry jazz, and even Israeli dances.

The concert will be presented by local artists Bill and Cheryl Star and their accompanist Jennifer St. Clair.  Known as the Windsong Trio, they have performed  throughout North Georgia in numerous area churches for the past 15 years.

Various instrumental combinations of flute, alto flute, oboe, English horn and piano in styles from prayerful reverence to joyous celebration make for a program with something for everyone.

Bill and Cheryl Star retired from playing professionally in Miami, Florida to move to the Blue Ridge area in 2001.  They have performed in symphony orchestras, operas, ballets and on concert stages throughout the South.  They also perform with the Misty Mountain Woodwind Quintet and the Young Harris Community Band.  Cheryl is also on the music faculty at Young Harris College. Jennifer St. Clair is known to many in this area as a professional church pianist, composer, vocalist and music teacher. She was the music director at Ellijay Methodist Church and Faith Presbyterian Church in Blue Ridge as well as Cherry Log Christian Church prior to moving to Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Cherry Log Christian Church is located between Blue Ridge and Ellijay at 1149 Cherry Log Street, near the Pink Pig.  For more information or directions, you can call 706-632-1048 or access the church website at  The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
