We’re working very hard!Play is the work of childhood…..and work we do,
after we listen to and wonder about the Word of God. During our “working time,” each child may choose how they wish to spend their time responding to the Word of God. All the story manipulatives are available for children to retell and rework the Bible stories they have learned.
Art materials are also used during the response time to allow the children to express themselves and their feelings. We do not “make a craft” as a product to take home but focus instead on the process of creating art in response to the Holy Spirit. We draw, paint, work with clay, make collages, trace, and use lots of glue!!
Because each child learns differently, books, puzzles, matching and sorting activities are also available, relating to the liturgical time and the Bible stories. We explore geography through maps and puzzles of the Holy Land. We explore the world of science with experiments (e.g., growing plants, learning how yeast works, exploring the colors of the rainbow) which demonstrate God’s magnificent plan for the world.
